Zawawi Powertech Engineering LLC successfully executed the
EPC contract awarded by Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) for the
turnkey delivery of two 400/132 kV GIS grid stations - Suwayhat and Barik within
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) concession areas, along with the supply and
installation of two 400 kV reactors at New Nahadah Grid Station. The scope
included complete engineering, procurement, construction, installation,
testing, and commissioning, as well as all associated civil and systems works.
Operating in remote desert locations without basic infrastructure, the team
overcame significant logistical challenges, including sourcing water from 50 km
away for Barik. Drawing on extensive PDO brownfield experience, ZPTE
established a fully serviced camp for 600 personnel, complete with
accommodation, catering, recreational, medical, and religious facilities to
ensure workforce well-being. Strict compliance with PDO road safety and journey
management protocols ensured safe, efficient operations. The project was
completed to the highest quality standards, meeting all client requirements and
contributing to the reliable expansion of Oman’s power transmission network.
