Construction of 132/33kv grid station at Al Jawabi along with associated OHL from JBB Hassan to Al Jawabi GS

Zawawi Powertech Engineering LLC successfully delivered the turnkey 132/33 kV GIS Grid Station at Al Jawabi, along with a new 132 kV double-circuit twin YEW overhead line (OHL) from JBB Hassan Grid Station. The project scope included the complete design, supply, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of all systems and equipment, including 132 kV GIS, 125 MVA transformers, 33 kV GIS, control and protection systems, 20 MVAR capacitor banks, LVAC & DC systems, SCS & SCADA integration, telecommunications, ISS systems, and fully equipped 132 & 33 kV substation control buildings.

The 30 km OHL, constructed on steel towers, was fully integrated with cable compounds, gantries, terminal towers, cable sealing ends, and lightning arrestors at both Al Jawabi and JBB Hassan ends. Additionally, approximately 400 meters of 132 kV cable connections were laid between the GIS feeders and terminal towers at JBB Hassan. The scope also encompassed the replacement of existing Main 2 relays on the 132 kV Al Jawabi feeders at JBB Hassan GS to match the new systems, alongside associated SCS, telecom, SCADA modifications, and detailed retagging/labelling works.

Executed to the highest safety and quality standards, the project was completed on schedule, meeting all client specifications and strengthening Oman’s power transmission network through reliable new infrastructure and enhanced system integration.
