Lekhwair Power Plant

Lekhwair oil-field hub, North Oman
PTE159

Zawawi Powertech Engineering LLC (ZPTE) executed this single-block combined-cycle facility on a full EPC-turnkey basis, covering everything from detailed engineering through performance testing and hand-over including the Design and construction of Fuel Gas pipeline.

ZPTE has delivered a fast-track, fuel-flexible combined-cycle block that couples the proven GE Frame 6FA with a 35 MW steam turbine and HRSG. An air-cooled condenser eliminates cooling-water draw-off, making the plant well-suited for Oman’s arid interior. The facility is fully integrated with PDO’s 132 kV grid via a dedicated GIS yard and double-circuit overhead lines, and all critical auxiliary systems—fuel-gas conditioning, closed-loop cooling, water treatment, SCADA and asset-health monitoring are provided turnkey by ZPTE.

 Our integrated scope covered:

Engineering and Design :

  • Complete civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and I&C detail engineering,
  • Factory interface studies and grid-code compliance analysis

Procurement

  • Procurement of 1 No of GE Frane 6FA Gas Turbine +
  • Procurement of 1 No of Steam Turbine & Air-Cooled Condenser
  • Procurement of I No. of HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator)
  • Procurement of Balance-of-Plant (BoP) packages including Gas Treatment Plant, Closed Cooling Water System, DM Water Package

 Construction

  • Engine foundations, and utility buildings
  • Installation, alignment and grouting of all Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, HRSG and BOP
  • E&I installation: cable trays, cabling, terminations, loop checks

Commissioning

  • Cold and hot commissioning of each engine, BoP systems
  • Grid synchronization, load-rejection, reliability run, and emissions testing and PG testing
  • Handover of O&M manuals, as-built documentation and operator training

Execution Highlights

  • One-stop EPC delivery covering multi-discipline design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operator training.
  • High reliability design with N+1 redundancy across gas treatment, UPS and critical auxiliaries to meet PDO uptime targets.
  • Remote operability from Yibal MCC for optimized staffing and rapid dispatch.
  • Future-ready layout reserving space for a second gas turbine and additional OHL bays to accommodate PDO load growth.
